Helen of Bollywood - Volume Four

Its been almost a year since the last volume was released. Since then, I've uploaded 3 other compilation DVDs:

My Name is Suzy - 23 videos influenced by western music and culture including 7 with Helen.

Helen Dhamaka - 40 rare Helen videos that have never been released on DVD.

Helen: Always In Step - various videos about Helen.

After getting over 500 downloads of the first 3 volumes, I've decided to continue with Helen of Bollywood (Volume 4). As usual, all videos were remastered to the best of my ability for optimal viewing pleasure. So, I hope you enjoy them! Once again, special thanks to PC! And also to Tom Daniel for technical advice.

Among the highlights in this volume: the evergreen song "Ooi Ma Ooi Ma Yeh Kya Ho Gaya" from the classic fantasy film "Parasmani" and "Suku Suku" from the 1961 superhit "Junglee." Personal favorite: "Hello Hello" from "Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati" in which Helen dances up a storm and entertains us as only she can. :)

Video Of The Week

Ted Lyons and His Cubs appear with brother-in-law Sonu behind the drums!
Featuring dancing Fembots, Beatle hairstyles, Beatle collarless suits, and Beatle boots! All of this can be found in the song - Ye Aankhe Teri Hain Teri Katil from Golden Eyes: Secret Agent 077! So, feel the love...yeah, yeah, yeah!

In the video Helen look-alike and head fembot Madhumati (Pagla Kahin Ka, Night in London) dances with her fellow fembots while the real Helen secretly watches behind the Golden Eye.

Dig this frenetic Bollywood dance party from "Golden Eyes: Secret Agent 077" (1968). And see a potpourri of 60s dances performed including, of course, "The Twist" along with some Indian "Air Guitar." :D

Ted Lyons' Cubs are featured throughout as Ted's brother-in-law Sonu shines with some mad drumming and a couple of fantastic drum solos!

A must see!

VHS rip of Kishore Kumar's hits. Originally made before DVDs were available. Therefore, no annoying logos on videos. Commercials for Sony Watchman, Walkman, Betamax recorders, ayurvedic cream, toothpaste etc. are left in for nostalgic value.

Quality is good for VHS.

Songs are from Abhiman, Namak Haraam, Roti, Hamshakal, Kathputli, Chalte Chalte, Victoria No 203, Call Girl, Pyar Kiye Jaa and other films.

Folkpop Dhamaka Mashup (Indian Masala Sounds)

A very cool and wonderfully eclectic mix of Indian music. Press play and enjoy!

What Rebel Uppa says about his mix:

" All tunes in this masala funky flavoured mashup mix are selected from over 100's of cdr's, video cd's and cassettes that I picked up on my trip in India in 2007. In modern day India, music is part of every day life on the street where distorted sounds blast from shops, riksha's, buses, temples or weddings in many musical styles. Folkpop is the hybrid of old folk music and new pop/dance made with digital techniques. The frequent use of vocoder, autotune and other effects give it a culture-clashing sound where old traditions meet the changing modern times. The folkpop mixed here is a mash of Sambalpuri, Oriya, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Haryana and Gujarati dancepop styles. There's so much more to India than Bollywood alone. If you look deeper into the local culture of the many states, you'll find a unique sound that follows the same wave that rolls allover India. You can order this mix as a handmade cd-r with colourful artwork, for just 5€ at info@rebelup.org "

So Yeah, A Clear Tracklisting Was Quite Impossible Here because Most Of The Titles/Artists Were Written In Hindi & Local Languages, Or Marked As Unknown Mp3'S. Not An Easy Task To Translate All That, So Consider It A Mystery. Just Let The Music Speak For Itself :)
