Helen Dhamaka

Now available Here at Mediafire.

This DVD contains 40 rare Helen songs from VCD, video tapes, Youtube and various web sites. To the best of my knowledge, none are available on commercial DVDs...and may never be. The original quality of some of these videos was very poor. So, I denoised, brightened, and color-corrected them to the best of my ability. Occasionally, I also had to re-synch the audio.

Enjoy!

  6. Amazing, as usual! Erm... any chance of a complete track list? (Also, is it just me or does disk freeze midway through a couple of the songs?)
    :)

    ps. what does Dhamaka mean?

  7. thanks, PC. I'll try to get the track list and post it here and Bwt in a couple of days. Tell me which videos are freezing and I'll check.

    Dhamaka means explosion! :)

  8. Hmm... the Aag Aur Daag track... not sure which others now, as the freezing only seems to occur when playing at regular speed... when fast forwarding all ran smoothly. Odd. Oh well, might be a glitch at my end though, if no one else is having any issues?

Also, I've not actually burned onto a disc, I'm watching on the computer's DVD-player.

  9. The Aag Aur Daag song (track 34) plays perfectly for me. I did find a problem 3 songs earlier on track 31 (Geeta Dutt song). Its missing the last 10 seconds as it freezes the image at 3:19, but it plays through to the next song. That song was a Youtube conversion that was very poorly encoded by the ripper so that may have caused that glitch.

You might try burning another DVD at the slowest speed if you still have issues. I usually burn with DVD Decrypter and seldom have problems.

Just wondering...do you have any favorites on the DVD? :)

  10. After watching it on my stand-alone DVD player, I watched Aag Aur Daag on the computer with PowerDVD and it also plays smoothly.

  11. Not yet really, as I've only watched it the once, with half an eye, whilst doing other stuff as the same time...

Much as I like the sweet, innocent Helen of vintage b&w clips though, I have to admit I'm rather partial to the seductive, sexy, sultry version of subsequent decades :)

  12. I'll sort it, and if all else fails I'll try re-torrenting. Cheers!

  13. I have to say I like both equally.

Some of the later songs like in Pistolwali (track 19) pushed the limits of what she was allowed to do since these were mostly low budget films that needed a sexier Helen to boost the box office receipts.

  14. Looks good
    Hopefully get it one day
BTW missed your last few posts seems you've turned off your blogger rss feed ?

PC, I just add the video track list to the post.

  16. The song Ae nazneen ae gulbadan from Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki Thi was sung by an male singer, isn't it? so was Helen there in that song or she had any other song too? Even Laxmi Chhaya was there in that film, do you know her song from this film?

My personal favorites are Mera Naam Jinny from Sindbad Alibaba Aur Aladdin and Hoga So Hoga from Pistolwali. Yea, Pistolwali was not an hit film but the all songs from that film was awesome. The music director was Satyam and all the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle.

  17. thanks for your comments.

yes, Helen danced in the Ae nazneen ae gulbadan song that was sung by a male singer. It was her only appearance in the film.
Laxmi Chaayya had a small comedic role and didn't have a song of her own in the movie.

Mera Naam Jinny is one of Helen's best. She dances nonstop throughout and shows total control of the dancing moves she's required to do in that song. Amazing performance.

Hoga So Hoga was another good Helen dance that was in Pistolwali (A Tamil film). You might be interested to read a review of that film @ http://diedangerdiediekill.blogspot.com/2009/04/pistolwali-india-1972.html
