Helen Week - Night is Lovely (Slideshow)

Welcome to Helen Week - Day 1
CHEERS!

"Night is Lovely" is a Helen song (vocal by Asha Bhosle) from Pyar Ka Sapna (1969) that has been edited out of the the VCD and DVD releases. So, I decided to create a slideshow using a mp3 of the song with screenshots (color enhanced and denoised) of Helen's scenes from the movie. Lets hope that one day the missing video surfaces. Until then, this is the next best thing. Those who have been lucky enough to have seen the excised video say it's one of Helen's best. Update: The long lost video has been found on an old VHS tape and is available for all to see Here

For her role in Pyar Ka Sapna, Helen has long blond hair and light blue eyes and looks beautiful. See screenshot below.

Night is lovely and so is Helen

So, without further ado, here is the Night is Lovely slideshow. Hope you enjoy. :)

  1. Yippy!! Great post! A great start! I was waiting for this day and i was so exited! Now i am more exited because its such an great Helen start so i am guessing what more is waiting for us?!
Even i do want to see the video of this lovely song ''Night Is Lovely''. But you know that this song was even edited from my copy of VCD too!! But one of my friend named Ini, he is from Africa and again an non Hindi speaker but an great Bollywood and Helen fan! He saw that song and you know after watching that dance he became a great Helen fan and from that day he stepped into Bollywood films! So can you imagine how great that song can be?! He is madly looking for that dance for about 4 years and so am i for 2 years!
Well nevertheless at least we can just guess how great that song can be?! But i don't know why its being edited from the VCD DVD as this song was released with the film, isn't it? So why?! If you know anything about this mysterious matter do let me know.

    Ridhima -

Glad u enjoyed Helen Week: day 1. Stay tuned for more tomorrow. :)

Yep, I've been searching for that video for a while, too. Its a shame that they cut out the best part of the movie! Ridhima, I believe it was edited out so that the movie could fit onto 2 VCDs. Two VCDs can only hold a little over 2 hours and since most Indian movies are longer than that they cut out stuff to make it fit. And then when its time to make a DVD they simply use the same master tape. Probably the only way that song is going to ever appear is if someone rips the film from a VHS or Beta tape copy that they have and posts the unedited movie at a torrent site. The classic "Teesri Manzil" is another film that was edited (20 minutes) to fit on to 2 VCDs. I would venture to say that the vast majority of old Indian movies are edited for VCD and DVD release.
